Discover Ithaka
Activity Description
Join us for a magical journey to Ithaka (Ιθάκη), the mythical island home of Odysseus, where ancient legends come alive.
Starting our day, we take a scenic drive to Sami Port and board the ferry for a beautiful 20-minute crossing to Ithaka. We arrive at Piso Aetos port, the traditional gateway to this enchanting island.
Our first stop is Vathy, the charming island capital wrapped around a horseshoe-shaped harbor. Here you'll have free time to explore the Archaeological Museum, stroll the waterfront promenade, browse local shops, or simply enjoy a Greek coffee at the harbor cafés while soaking in the authentic island atmosphere.
We then drive to an elevated viewpoint above the town, where panoramic views of the picturesque Lazaretto Islet and Vathy Bay unfold before you – a perfect photo opportunity to capture Ithaka's serene beauty.
Continuing our tour, we arrive at Kioni, arguably the most beautiful village in the Ionian Islands. This impossibly pretty harbor, with its stone houses, colorful fishing boats, and three iconic windmills, is where you'll have ample time to enjoy a leisurely waterfront lunch at traditional tavernas (own expense). Passing through the fishing village of Frikes, we head to our final destination.
Our last stop is Stavros, the hilltop village considered the ancient center of Ithaka. Here you'll see the bust of Odysseus, visit the old church of Sotiros (Saviour), admire the beautiful Polis Bay, and taste the delicious traditional dessert "Rovani" – a sweet that's been made here for generations.
Finishing our island odyssey, we return to Piso Aetos port for the ferry ride back to Kefalonia after a day of mythological splendor and authentic Greek island life.
