Discover Ithaka Cruise & Tour
Activity Description
Join us for the ultimate Ithaka adventure combining scenic ferry crossings, coastal cruising, and village exploration on this magical journey to the mythical island home of Odysseus.
Starting our day, we take a scenic drive to Sami Port and board the ferry for a beautiful 20-minute crossing to Ithaka. We arrive at Piso Aetos port, the traditional gateway to this enchanting island.
Our first stop is Vathy, the charming island capital wrapped around a horseshoe-shaped harbor. Here you'll have free time to explore the Archaeological Museum, stroll the waterfront promenade, browse local shops, or enjoy a Greek coffee at the harbor cafés while soaking in the authentic island atmosphere.
Then the maritime adventure begins! We board our comfortable cruise boat and depart Vathy harbor, sailing past the picturesque Lazaretto Islet with its historic church – a postcard-perfect moment from the water.
Cruising the crystalline Ionian waters, we reach the stunning Gidaki Beach – one of Ithaka's most beautiful secluded shores, accessible only by boat. Here you'll enjoy a refreshing swim stop in crystal-clear aquamarine waters, sunbathe on pristine white pebbles, or snorkel and explore the vibrant underwater world surrounded by lush green hillsides.
Continuing our coastal voyage, we arrive at Kioni, arguably the most beautiful village in the Ionian Islands. This impossibly picturesque harbor, with its stone houses, colorful fishing boats, and three iconic windmills, is where you'll have time to enjoy a leisurely waterfront lunch at traditional tavernas (own expense). After exploring Kioni's charming cobblestone lanes, we board our bus and pass through the fishing village of Frikes, heading to our final destination.
Our last stop is Stavros, the hilltop village considered the ancient center of Ithaka. Here you'll see the bust of Odysseus, visit the old church of Sotiros (Saviour), admire the beautiful Polis Bay, and taste the delicious traditional dessert "Rovani" – a sweet that's been made here for generations.
Finishing our island odyssey, we return to Piso Aetos port for the ferry ride back to Kefalonia after a day of mythological splendor experienced by land and sea.
